About Lower Dolpo Trek
Lower Dolpo Trek is an isolated area compared to the rest of the trekking region in Nepal. This trek has fewer number of tourists. The Lower Dolpo is Midwestern part of Nepal, and it is 15 15-day 14 14-night trek with a basic Tea house and homestay.
Lower Dolpo is a magnificent adventure on the Himalayas with excellent views. It’s called rain shadow trekking in Nepal which is the best time to do June, July, August, Sep-Oct. Lower Dolpo Trek requires a special permit from the Nepal immigration office, one week permit is USD10 per person and the Phoksundo National Park permit is $30 per person. The main highlight of the trek is Phoksundo Lake. It is an exotic and enthralling path, a reasonably tough trek which connects with the part of the Great Himalayan Trail (upper Dolpo).
Phoksundo Lake is situated at 3,612 m above sea level, which is a very charming lake. Rhododendron and Pine trees, as well as wild animals like Himalayan Thar, musk deer, Danphe and Munals are protected under the Phoksundo National Park.
The people from the Lower Dolpo region are Magar, Thakali, Bohora, Tibetan and Bhote which are real indigenous people of Nepal. They also follow typical Tibetan cultures.
