Travelers can obtain a visa upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu or at various border entry points including Kakadvitta, Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Gaddachowki on the Nepal-India border, and Kodari on the Nepal-China border. Additionally, visas can be acquired at the nearest Nepal Embassy or Diplomatic Mission. For renewal purposes, visas can be obtained at the Department of Immigration in Kalikasthan, Kathmandu.
To apply for a visa, travelers must present a valid passport and one passport-size photo with a light background. The Immigration Department has not specified the exact size of the passport-size photo required.
Visa fees must be paid in cash using one of the following currencies: Euro, Swiss Franc, Pound Sterling, US Dollar, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, Singapore Dollar, or Japanese Yen. Please note that credit cards, Indian currency, and Nepali currency are not accepted for visa fee payments.

Gratis (Free) Visa
For the first visit in one visa year (January to December), a gratis visa for 30 days is available for nationals of South Asian countries such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. However, the visa can be extended at the Immigration Department upon payment of the visa fee as specified above.

Indian nationals do not require a visa to enter Nepal.
However, as per the Nepalese Immigration, Indian nationals traveling to Nepal must possess any one of the following documents:
- Passport
- Driving License with photo
- Photo Identity card issued by a Government Agency
- Ration Card with Photo
- Election Commission Card with Photo
- Identity Card issued by Embassy of India in Kathmandu
- Identity Card with Photo issued by Sub-Divisional Magistrate or any other officials above his rank

Other Information
Nationals from Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, and Afghanistan must obtain a visa from Nepal Embassies or Diplomatic Missions in their respective countries, as they are not eligible for a visa on arrival at the immigration entry points of Nepal.
Visa Extension
Tourists can stay in Nepal for a maximum of 150 days in a visa year (January 1 to December 31).
