The Astam Mini Trek takes you to one of Pokhara's best-kept secrets — the traditional Gurung village of Astam, perched on a forested ridge above the Pokhara valley with commanding views of the Annapurna range. Unlike larger trekking routes, Astam feels intimate and unhurried, offering genuine village life, clean mountain air, and breathtaking Himalayan scenery within just a short drive and walk from Pokhara city. This is the ideal short trek for travelers with 2–3 days, families, or those pairing a Pokhara holiday with a mountain experience.

Package Highlights

  • Sweeping 180° views of Annapurna, Lamjung Himal, and Machhapuchhre from Astam ridge
  • Authentic Gurung village atmosphere — stone houses, terraced fields, monasteries
  • Short, low-altitude trail — no altitude sickness risk
  • Lush forests of oak, rhododendron, and pine
  • Birdwatching opportunities on forested ridgeline trails
  • Combines beautifully with Pokhara lakeside and Sarangkot sunrise extension
  • Off-the-beaten-path — far fewer trekkers than Ghorepani or Dhampus circuits

After a short briefing at your Pokhara hotel, drive 45 minutes to Naudanda — a well-known viewpoint ridge. Begin your gentle descent through terraced rice paddies and corn fields, passing through small wayside settlements. The trail climbs back up through rhododendron and oak forest before arriving at Astam village. Settle into your teahouse, enjoy a warm cup of masala tea on the terrace, and watch the late-afternoon light transform the Annapurna peaks.
