What to expect during the Everest Base Camp trek with helicopter return 12 days?

The Everest Base Camp with helicopter return trek takes you to an impressive elevation of 5,545 meters above sea level. It is Kala Patthar, the highest point on the EBC trek. Everest Base Camp is the second highest point at 5,364 meters. Not many trekkers know that the view of Mt. Everest is not visible from its base camp. So, we hike to Kala Patthar as our final ascent to enjoy a spectacular view of Everest and surrounding peaks. You will begin the trek from Lukla, the gateway to the Khumbu region (Everest region). However, Kathmandu will be your first destination on this trip. It is the capital of Nepal, and you will land here. We will meet you in Kathmandu and spend two nights getting to know each other and preparing for the trek. You can buy/rent trekking clothes and gear and explore the tourist sites. On the third day, you will fly to Lukla. Our expert mountain guide and porter will accompany you from Lukla onwards. First night in the mountains, you will spend in Phakding village. It is situated around 200 meters below Lukla.

If you are trekking between March to May or September to November, you will take the Lukla flight from Ramechhap Airport instead of Kathmandu Airport. These months are peak travel times in Nepal, so Kathmandu Airport is quite busy. Shifting the Lukla flights to Ramechhap Airport allows flights to be on time. It takes five hours to drive to Ramechhap Airport from Kathmandu.

The trail from Lukla descends along the Dudh Koshi River. It passes by small villages and rhododendron-forested hills. Be prepared to cross several suspension bridges until you reach Namche Bazaar. The most thrilling one is the long Tenzing Hillary Suspension Bridge. It is 135 meters high and 60 meters long. From Pahakding, you will ascend to Namche Bazaar. The trail continues through the forest of rhododendrons and magnolias. Permits are registered on the way to Monjo village, the starting point of Sagarmatha National Park. The final ascent to Namche Bazaar is steep. We have acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche village. So, you will spend two nights in these two villages. Your main activity on acclimatization day will be hiking to higher elevations and returning to the village to spend the night. It will help you adjust to altitude and avoid altitude sickness. From Namche Bazaar, you will ascend to Tengboche village and then to Dingboche village. Once you cross Dingboche, you will enter the subalpine zone. The trail now crosses a glacier field and goes along the Khumbu glacier to Lobuche village. You will then ascend to Gorak Shep and hike to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar from here.

Sherpas- the glory of Everest Base Camp trek

One of the things that makes trekking to Everest iconic is the Sherpas and their companionship. Also, meet with other mountain communities, such as Rai, Lama, Bhotiyas, etc, and enjoy their warm hospitality. The engagement with the locals makes the trek meaningful. You will see their lifestyle and traditions. Along the trail, there are many stupas and monasteries where you can learn about the locals' faith and customs. Similarly, hear many intriguing stories and myths, including Yetis. It will be a wonderful time.Beautiful villages with breathtaking scenery make the journey visually remarkable. During trekking, you will see a wide range of landscapes, and many sunrises and sunsets and towering mountains will be your constant friends.
